# IT equipment and server moving

Computers and servers are the part of a move that costs the most when something goes wrong. We pack, label and track every device so it arrives and gets placed where it belongs.

## What we move

- **Workstations**: Desktop computers, laptops, docking stations, monitors, keyboards and cables, packed per desk.
- **Printers and copiers**: Office printers and multifunction copiers. Large leased copiers often need the leasing company to prepare them first.
- **Phones and AV**: Desk phones, meeting-room screens, projectors and video-conference kits.
- **Servers and racks**: Rack-mounted servers, network switches and storage, moved in a planned sequence agreed with your IT team.

## How we keep devices safe and traceable

- **Plan with your IT team**: We agree a shutdown time, who disconnects what, and the order in which systems come back.
- **Pack and label**: Devices go into padded crates or anti-static bags. Each item gets a label for its new desk or rack.
- **Track**: An inventory list follows the equipment, so you can check that everything arrived.
- **Place and hand back**: Equipment is placed at the right desk or rack, ready for your IT team to connect and test.

## Starting prices for IT moving

| Item | Starting price |
|---|---|
| 3 movers with a 26 ft truck | from $150 per hour |
| 4 movers with a 26 ft truck | from $195 per hour |
| [Plastic moving crate rental](https://commercial-movers.ca/services/packing-and-crates/) | from $2 per crate per week |

Starting prices in CAD before tax, based on typical Toronto and GTA market rates. The final price depends on volume, floors and elevators, distance, timing and building rules, and is confirmed in your written quote.

IT moves are usually charged at the crew rate. Evening, overnight and weekend work: typically 20 to 40% above the weekday labour rate.

> Before a server move: back up your data and confirm the shutdown and restart plan with your IT provider. Read [how to plan an IT move](https://commercial-movers.ca/guides/it-relocation-planning/).

## IT moving questions

**Do you set up the network?**

No. We move and place the equipment. Network, server and software setup stays with your IT team or provider, and we work to their timeline.

**Can you move only our servers?**

Yes. A server or rack move can be booked on its own, usually after hours.

**How are monitors packed?**

In padded crates or monitor bags, labelled for the destination desk.
